Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may receive routine technical information about that visit:
- Page-view times and the pages visited
- Device type and operating system
- The referring website, when available
- Browser type and version
- Time spent on viewed pages
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic information, such as which pages are used most and where visits end. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some website functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Juneau County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general routing information for Juneau County Sheriff's Records, Circuit Court, the Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, Wisconsin DOC, and WI Stay Safe. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a criminal file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. We do not control those policies, so review the selected provider's terms before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Juneau County offices, Wisconsin courts and agencies, legal-help organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy governs. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be processed by:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Outside search providers receiving a submitted query
- Advertising networks serving ads on the website
- A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard security practices are used for collected data. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy or consumer law may create added rights. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs records held by public authorities, while Wis. Stat. § 165.83 addresses criminal-identification reporting. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government record custodian. For data held by us, a visitor may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
- Request a copy of personal data held about that visitor
