Arrest History in Juneau County
Juneau County arrest records begin with the agency that takes a person into custody. The Juneau County Sheriff's Office, Mauston Police, New Lisbon Police, Elroy Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, DNR wardens, and other agencies may each create their own incident or arrest report. The Sheriff's Records Unit does not gain custody of every city police report just because the person later enters the Juneau County jail. A request for the officer's narrative, witness material, or enforcement detail should go first to the agency that made the arrest.
Booking is a second record event. If a person is lodged, jail staff record identity and property, conduct safety screening, take fingerprints and a photograph, enter alleged charges and holds, and track bond or release status. Some Juneau County arrests never lead to a filed criminal case. Others reach the District Attorney, then the Circuit Court. The resulting files describe different stages, and each can change at a different time.
Four Juneau County Arrest Records
A single Juneau County arrest can create four distinct public-record trails. The agency report describes what officers observed and alleged. A jail booking entry records custody. A fingerprint transaction may update Wisconsin DOJ's Crime Information Bureau, while a prosecutor's complaint can open a Circuit Court case. The shortest useful map is: Agency arrest report → jail booking → CIB fingerprint cycle → prosecutor and court case.
The flow is not automatic at every point. An arrest without qualifying fingerprints may not appear in the state criminal-history repository. A prosecutor may decline, replace, or amend the arrest charges. Court staff then report dispositions and sentences to CIB, but timing and identity matches can produce gaps. Note: A changed charge is not by itself an error because police allegations, prosecutor decisions, and final court counts serve different roles.
How to Look Up Juneau County Arrests
No single Juneau County arrest search covers all agencies, time periods, and outcomes. Start with current custody when the event was recent, then move back to the arresting agency and forward to the court. Use the statewide repository only for the state product it actually provides. This order reduces false matches and shows why a name may appear in one source but not another.

- Request the local arrest record. Identify the arresting agency, incident date, location, names involved, report type, and case number if known. Send the request to that agency's records custodian.
- Trace any filed charge. Search Wisconsin Circuit Court Access by name and date of birth, limit the search to Juneau County, and read each count's disposition.
- Check the state history. Use WORCS for the paid Wisconsin DOJ/CIB name-based product, while allowing for fingerprint and reporting gaps.
- Follow a later transfer. Search the Wisconsin DOC Persons in Our Care and Offender Search if the person entered state custody or supervision. It does not cover county-jail-only custody.
- Resolve a missing or incorrect entry. Ask the record's own custodian to review it. DOJ provides a separate fingerprint challenge and removal process for qualifying CIB records.
Keep the same name spelling, date, incident location, and case number across requests. Consistent identifiers help Juneau County custodians separate people with similar names and match records from different stages.
Juneau County Arrest Record Requests
The Sheriff's Records Unit accepts a Juneau County arrest record request in person, by fax, by U.S. mail, or through the official Release of Records form. Staff ask for enough detail to locate an existing record. Useful facts include the case number, incident date, report type, involved names, and incident location. The office redirects phone requests to a formal request channel, and an in-person filing may not be filled at once.
The county aims to process requests within ten business days, though access review and redaction can take more time. Charges depend on the record, copies, mailing, and other costs allowed by Wisconsin law. Prepayment is required when the total exceeds $5. Juvenile information, victim data, protected identifiers, active investigative material, and private medical or safety content may be removed or withheld after review.

What an Arrest Record Shows
A releasable Juneau County booking or arrest record may identify the event, agency, alleged offenses, custody stage, and release decision. The exact public fields depend on which record is requested and what Wisconsin law permits the custodian to disclose. Medical screening, jail classification, victim details, juvenile information, and other protected data do not become public merely because they were gathered during booking.

The agency incident report adds the officer's account, time and place, evidence references, and enforcement action. It is not the same as the booking sheet. The Juneau County criminal court case file is the better source for filed charges, pleas, dispositions, and sentences.
Juneau County Arrest Agency Routes
Record custody follows the agency that created the Juneau County arrest report. Sheriff incidents go to the county Records Unit. Mauston Police accepts requests at 303 Mansion Street and through its official form. New Lisbon Police routes record questions through its city or department contact, while Elroy Police handles them through the police or city counter. State Patrol, DNR, and DOC staff keep their own agency-created reports.
City and county files can still connect. A Mauston Police report can pair with a Juneau County jail booking and a state criminal case in Circuit Court. New Lisbon and Elroy do not publish official city arrest rosters. A person searching only the sheriff's report files may therefore miss a city-created narrative even when the jail handled the later booking.
Mauston's form lists a $2 report fee, $0.25 per page for added documents, postage, and $10-per-disc options for video, photos, or audio. It states a typical two-to-four-week response. Those city terms do not replace the Juneau County Sheriff's ten-business-day target or its over-$5 prepayment rule.
Recent Arrests and Booking Logs
Juneau County does not publish a verified county-hosted inmate name search or public booking log in the official sources reviewed. There is also no verified official sheriff mobile app. Avoid unofficial rosters because their entries may be stale, incomplete, or detached from the custodian. Absence from one system proves little. The Wisconsin DOC locator covers state custody and community supervision, not a person serving only county time or waiting in Juneau County jail. WCCA may have no case before the prosecutor files charges, and some arrests never produce a prosecution. Use the federal BOP Locator only for federal custody. A released person can also disappear from a current-custody view while the agency report and later court record remain.
When Juneau County Arrests Are Missing
When a Juneau County arrest does not appear online, confirm the event in both directions. For live custody, start with the jail. For the underlying facts, contact the arresting agency. Then check WCCA for a filed state case and the relevant municipal court if the issue involved a city ordinance or nonappearance. A sealed matter, recent event, name variation, or municipal route may explain why the circuit search shows nothing.
Warrants need direct confirmation too. Juneau County has no verified public active-warrant name search. Call the Sheriff at 608-847-5649 and the Clerk of Circuit Court at 608-847-9356, then inspect any related WCCA event history. Mauston Area Municipal Court or Regional Center Municipal Court may hold city citation process that does not appear as a state criminal case. Crime Stoppers is a tip line, not a warrant-clearance service.
Juneau County Crash Arrest Records
Traffic arrests and crash investigations may involve a separate report channel. The Juneau County Sheriff directs crash-report requesters to CrashDocs. A deputy may take up to ten business days to write the report, followed by vendor transfer time. The Sheriff's Office says it generally receives the report little earlier than the public portal. A first search that returns no report can reflect that lag rather than the absence of an incident.

CrashDocs serves crash reports, not the full Juneau County arrest history. Incident narratives, body-camera files, 911 or CAD records, booking data, and warrant-service records may still require a formal request and access review.
Body-camera footage has a distinct time concern. Juneau Sheriff policy applies Wisconsin Public Records Law and custodian review, and a preservation request made within 120 days prevents destruction until the matter reaches final disposition or a court determination. Redactions may protect victims, witnesses, confidential sources, medical information, financial identifiers, and safety-sensitive details.
Arrests vs Convictions
A Juneau County arrest record confirms that an agency took a custody or enforcement action based on an allegation. It does not establish the final charge or result. A conviction record follows a guilty plea or finding and judgment in court. Dismissal, acquittal, amendment, and a decision not to prosecute can all separate the arrest entry from the court outcome.

Wisconsin court expungement is narrow and does not automatically erase police, prosecutor, or CIB records. DOJ has a separate fingerprint-record removal route for specified cleared arrests, including some release-without-charge, nonprosecution, dismissal, or acquittal situations. Each custodian must correct its own system.
Note: A Juneau County arrest is not proof of guilt, and a booking may end without any criminal conviction.
